Pokemon Shuffle 3DS News: Freemium Puzzle Game Reaches 1 Million Downloads In 2 Weeks Since Release

Free Digital Puzzle Game Pokemon Shuffle Reaches 1 Million Downloads On 3DS In 2 Weeks

Pokémon Shuffle, a digital title available on the eShop for Nintendo 3DS, has been downloaded 1 million times.

Trine 3: The Artifacts Of Power Announced With Beautiful Gameplay Trailer

That's an good feat for any game, but it's even more impressive in this case when you consider the game only launched two weeks ago, on Feburary 18. That's a lot of downloads in a short amount of time, but should we expect anything less from the Pokémon franchise? Even in with a spinoff puzzle title, the brand continues to pull in fans.

The developers are offering a free Complexity -1 in-game gift to celebrate the milestone, available to any Pokémon Shuffle players. You can receieve it by using the check in feature, which can be done after clearing stage 11 (you'll need an internet connection, of course). The Complexity -1 item "reduces the variety of Pokémon in the puzzle area by one, making it far easier to make long chains of combos".

Our Impressions Of Homeworld Remastered Collection So Far

Pokémon Shuffle is a freemium title, so it's worth noting that this is not 1 million copies sold. Still, interest is clearly high, at least enough for people to take a shot and try the game out. Not everyone who has downloaded the title is necessarily still playing, but the optional real-money purchases have no doubt earned Nintendo some profits. Players can earn jewels by defeating trainers or by purchasing them with real money through the eShop. Jewels can buy you more hearts to continue playing, or coins with which to buy power-ups.
