Groot Comic Book Series Announced: Guardians Of The Galaxy Star Gets Solo Run

Groot #1 Comic Stars The Loveable Space Tree Out On His Own

Traveling to a strange new land is hard when you don't speak the language. Imagine if that strange land was the whole of the galaxy and the only words you could speak in any language were "I am Groot." Welcome to the world of Groot, a new solo series about the lovable space tree monster.

Series Editor Devin Lewis explains what the book focusing on the least talkative member of the Guardians of the Galaxy would be like.

"We have the kinds of wacky situations a giant space tree can find himself in, but we're also striving to show what makes Groot one of the noblest and wisest characters in the Marvel Universe. There are as many feels in this book as there are chuckles, and it's going to surprise people."

Feels? Like the feels that we all had when he (SPOILER!) was destroyed in the movie, and then came back as the cutest dancing baby Groot to ever exist? Those kinds of feels?

The series starts when Groot is separated from the only person that can understand his three word language, Rocket Raccoon, and must make it in the big bad universe on his own. Sweet as he is, he's still a bristly giant space tree and that can be a little scary if you're not used to it.

Groot #1 is written by Jeff Loveness with art by Brian Kesinger. It will be available from comic retailers and online in June.
