Ironcast Release Date Announced: Premier Steampunk Match 3 Strategy Game Launches On Steam At End Of The Month [TRAILER]

Like Steampunk? Like Match 3 Games? Then Ironcast Is Most Definitely The Game For You, And It's Out At The End Of March

If there's one thing more popular that Steampunk - you know, Jules Verne and sh** - it's jewel matching games. I don't understand the popularity of either of them, but I appreciate merging the two into a nice, neat package known as Ironcast.

What could have easily been a fast and cheap cash-in is actually a fairly substantial and intriguing looking product. Ironcast made its Kickstarter goal, albeit barely, in back in October. The premium - oh thank god - title for PC, OSX and Linux game is more of a strategy match three title than a simple connect three. And it offers a wide range of customization options for the various mechs that you can command during the length of the title.

Plus, it allows you to upgrade your own machine with the beaten husks of your fallen enemies as a reminder to everyone to not mess with you. It is, quite literally, metal as hell.

It's a give and take power struggle. "Battles are fought by generating resource nodes which in turn drive the Ironcast's various weapons and systems. Players must match colored nodes from a grid in order to gather energy, ammunition, repair tools and engine coolant. They must then use these resources to unleash a torrent of cannon, laser and missile fire upon the enemy in order to cripple their systems and ultimately be the last walker standing."

The seven meter tall machines are reminiscent of the AT-ST units from Return of the Jedi, but, you know...steam.

Ironcast launches on Thursday, March 26 on Steam and Humble for $14.99. Check out the trailer below.
