Nintendo eShop And Virtual Console Update: 'Super Mario 64', 'Yoshi's Island DS', 'Story Of Seasons' & More!

This Week's Nintendo eShop Update Brings 'Super Mario 64 To The Wii U'; 'Story Of Seasons' Out In America, & More

The House of Mario is coming off a huge Nintendo Direct where they announced a host of various new content for established titles. But what of things I can get right now? They have you covered.

New Mario Kart 8 DLC Will Deliver 200cc Mode

It's Thursday morning, so that can mean only one thing: it's Nintendo eShop and Virtual Console update time!

The big story this week is Super Mario 64. No, not how some enthusiastic fan upgraded it to HD graphics and was then quickly and decisively quashed (bad PR move, Nintendo) - but because the legendary classic is out now on Wii U. Maybe Nintendo didn't want anyone stealing their thunder. 15 worlds, 120 stars, not a second wasted. $9.99

Super Smash Bros Mewtwo DLC Update, New Characters, Costumes And More

Yoshi's Island DS comes to the Wii U today as well. Guide Yoshi and the baby Mario Bros across the titular island to defeat the sinister Kamek. A short and sweet adventure, for $9.99.

Over the 3DS, players can pick up BOXBOY! On the eShop, a game that forces you to...think outside the box! Players guide Qbby through 20 black and white worlds, trying to save them all. Cute platforming at its finest.

Also out for Nintendo's handheld is Story of Seasons, originally called Bokujo Monogatari in Japan or, to put it better, the much better new Harvest Moon game (but totally not Harvest Moon due to licensing rights). Original producer Yoshifumi Hashimoto has created something traditional and memorable.

Players gain access to several new themes this week: Animal Crossing: New Leaf: Bunny Day, Rottytops Theme and the Shantae Pirate Theme

Finally, additional games hitting the store this week include:

Angry Video Game Nerd Adventures (Wii U) - the one and only AVGN embarks on an epic, 8-bit retro sidescrolling adventure with his merry band of misfits. You say it's hard, AVGN says it's rewarding. $9.99
psyscrolr (Wii U) - psychic boy platformer, sadly not a new Earthbound. Should play anyways. $3.99
Underground (Wii U) - a gorgeous looking adventure title, that also doubles as a laparoscopic surgery trainer. Who says video games can't teach you real world skills? $20.99
Excave II: Wizard of the Underworld (3DS) - classic JRPG hack and slash title that borrows a bit from Destiny: you level up your gear, not yourself. $10.00

We'll be seeing you next week for some Xenoblade! Until then, good gaming.
