'King's Quest' Reboot Behind The Scenes Video Shows Series Is In Good Hands; First Dev Diary Details Game's Vision

Behold The 'Vision' Behind The Upcoming King's Quest Remake

The Odd Gentlemen, developers behind the upcoming King's Quest reboot, have released the first in a four part series of Behind the Scenes videos outlining the game's development and I'll be damned if these do not sound like the perfect people for the job, odd as they may be.

Shovel Knight Arrives On Xbox One Next Week, And He's Bringing Some Friends

Titled 'The Vision', this four minute short video introduces two of the main creators of the game, Creative Director Matt Korba and Producer Lindsey Rostal, as they tell us about their inspiration for how to bring the game to life. Instead of one single quest, like the previous adventures from the early to mid-90s at the height of the Sierra empire, the reimagined King's Quest will focus on the many adventures of King Graham as he relates his stories (with much bluster and hyperbole, we would imagine) to his grand-daughter Gwendolyn. It's a fascinating and brilliant framing device, allowing a myriad of smaller side-quests rather than one huge one.

And it's tact approved of by the original King's Quest creators, Roberta and Ken Williams. "At one point, Roberta even told us this is really what we feel that King's Quest would be if we continued to make them," said Rostal.

The King's Quest games are some of the high watermarks during the heyday of adventure game, and we look forward to it - and the genre's - return.

The new adventures of Graham will be written into history later this year when King's Quest as a digital download title for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3 and PC. Watch the Behind the Scenes trailer below!
