'The Legend Of Zelda' Release Date, News & Update: Nintendo's Wii U Game Postponed To 2017; Is It Coming To New Nintendo NX Too?

"The Legend Of Zelda" will be delayed to a later date as it was affected by Nintendo's confirmation that March 2017 will be the international launch of the new console, Nintendo NX. The previously announced Wii U game, "The Legend Of Zelda", is set to be postponed to next year as well.

According to The Verge, the reason for the joint release of an upcoming game "The Legend of Zelda" is because the Nintendo NX will carry it too as one of its games. This is a familiar strategy that Nintendo previously implemented as it dropped the proposed GameCube game, "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess," alongside the original Wii instead.

As Wii U sales remain low, the game "The Legend of Zelda" might be the best premiering game for Nintendo NX because of its following. The Nintendo NX aims to salvage the performance of Nintendo consoles as it aims to attract the same success that the original Wii previously received when it first launched.

They remain tight lipped on what the "Nintendo NX" will look like aside from the fact that it will still use a similar touchscreen tablet-like controller. Based on the Venture Beat report, the rest of the console will not be shown even in the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles scheduled in June of this year.

With the "Nintendo NX" and "The Legend Of Zelda" announcement, the game company also released a financial report for the fiscal year and it does not incite confidence for their next releases after Wii U's poor performance in the market. In the Bloomberg report, Nintendo doubled its revenue to 35 billion yen but performed relatively lower than the forecasted 44.1 billion yen. In Germany, a trading share of Nintendo stocks fell by 6.1 percent.

However, Nintendo CEO Tatsumi Kimishima sees the profit boost that might come from their new smartphone gaming applications: "Animal Crossing" and "Fire Emblem." However, as soon as the hype for these apps die, Nintendo needs to learn to play their cards right until the "Nintendo NX" and "The Legend Of Zelda" is released.
