MacBook Pro 2016: Q2 Release Date Expected; Here's How It's Like With Specs & Features Upgrade

With updates packed into the MacBook and MacBook Air last month, prospects are looking forward to see changes in the lineup's Pro units. The latest MacBook Pros are launched in 2015; the 13-inch model arrived in March while the 15-inch model came in May.

Philip Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, spoke about the updated MacBook, "Customers are going to love this update to MacBook, with the latest processors, faster graphics, faster flash storage, longer battery life and a beautiful rose gold finish."

TechRadar expects to see the 2016 MacBook Pros in Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference, which happens next month, or even earlier. According to the outlet, the refreshed computer may sell from $1,264, considering prices of previous iterations.

Under the hood, the new MacBook Pro models are expected to pack Skylake processors, an upgrade from the computers' existing Broadwell and Haswell chips. Better speed is something promised by these new chips, allowing the models to live up to performance-driven standards. To date, it is no secret that rivals Dell, HP and Microsoft have all been enjoying the powers of Skylake, so the Cupertino giant will unlikely stay behind.

Speculations on design changes are very light; Macworld, for instance, is not expecting it "to change much, if at all." Still, the outlet sees it possible to have a gold model released, like what Apple did for the MacBook.

The new MacBook Pro model could also come with USB-C support, Techno Buffalo says. This, according to the outlet, will also provide a good chance for Apple to showcase its new MacOS software. Reportedly, this is the renamed OS X, with a notable absence that is Siri.

The current, 13-inch MacBook Pro sports a Broadwell processor, a Force Touch trackpad and improved battery life, among other upgrades. Its 15-inch counterpart, which came shortly, packs a Haswell processor, though it also incorporated notable improvements such as faster flash storage and graphics.
