Google Allo Release: Why New Chat App Is Next on Your Download List

Google took off the wraps of its new messaging app that does not only boast intelligence, but security as well. Dubbed Allo, the software is scheduled to arrive this summer, joining today's popular apps such as WhatsApp and Messenger.

Allo comes with an incognito mode that utilizes complete end-to-end encryption; messages are self-destructing. Chat features such as texting, emojis and stickers are standard, but it also offers access to Google's revamped assistant, TechnoBuffalo notes.

In the smart side of things, Allo features a whisper/shout option. Basically, this allows users to resize words to convey tone, Phone Arena cites. According to the outlet, this, so far, is the most interesting method to reform text messaging. Other chat apps we know today lack this feature, so Google gets a plus.

In terms of security, Open Whisper Systems, Google's partner in realizing Allo's end-to-end encryption, informs that the tech's foundation lies in Signal Protocol. The company describes it as "a modern, open source, strong encryption protocol" that works for asynchronous messaging systems.

"At Open Whisper Systems, our goal is to make private communication simple... We're going to continue our efforts to advance the state of the art for frictionless private communication, in our own app and in others. We're excited about the future of Signal Protocol and the places it is going," the company wrote in a blog post.

For those who may not know, end-to-end encryption is a method of secure communication that ensures data is only transferred from one outlet to another. In other words, it prevents participation and blocks interference of third-party systems, such as Internet service providers. The result is a message that is only accessed by the sending and receiving ends - no prying eyes in between.

Are you excited to try Allo ASAP?
