Battlefield 4 Release Date Announced

Hot news for EA. The game company recently confirmed that "Battlefield 4," the latest among its popular "Battlefield"series, will be released between April 2013 and March 2014.

"Battlefield 4" is a first-person shooter developed by DICE and Published by EA and Sega.

The announcement was made during the EA's Q1 2013 earnings relations call. The company also discussed it future plans and prospects for "Battlefield" and "Medal of Honor" series.

"We are aiming to have the next product in the Battlefield franchise in (Fiscal 14)," said Frank Gibeau, president, EA Labels. "With regards to 'Medal of Honor,' we brought the brand back a couple of years ago in 2010 with the goal of building a sustainable long-term franchise that was positioned around the authentic experience of being in combat. We were very proud of the first product; it definitely delivered on a lot of fronts and a couple of fronts it didn't. We weren't as pleased with the quality as we had hoped to be.

"Our goal with ('Medal of Honor: Warfighter') was to change things up a bit. We changed the tech-base from the Unreal Engine to the Frostbite engine. We added some resources from our DICE studio in Stockholm, and we've tried some very innovative things this time around with multi-player and some other things. We're tracking to grow the franchise from the 2010 version and our goal is to continue to have 'Medal of Honor' as part of our portfolio going forward."

"Medal of Honor" was released on October 2010, so there's a strong chance that "Battlefield 4" might be released in October of 2013.

It was due to a leak in EA's digital service Origin that "Battlefield 4"was announced last month.
