'Battlefield 1' Latest News & Release Date: World War 1 Game Interesting Even To Modern Gamers

Game developer EA DICE had concerns while developing the upcoming "Battlefield 1." Apparently, the developers worried that the first person shooter "Battlefield 1" World War 1 game would not connect with younger gamers.

Blake Jorgensen, Electronic Arts' Chief Financial Officer, revealed the company's initial reluctance to develop the game, reports GameSpot. Speaking to participants at the Bank of America Merrill Lynch 2016 Global Technology Conference, Jorgensen admits the game design team had doubts if the "Battlefield 1": World War 1 setting would be interesting enough for gamers.

In particular, EA insiders were concerned that younger gamers, a substantial market share in today's gaming market would even know about World War 1. This is the setting of EA's soon to be released "Battlefield 1" World War 1 first person shooter game.

In fact, this uncertainty about gamers' reception of a World War 1-based game is the reason why the game was only approved when it was proposed the second time. Patrick Soderlund, EA Studios boss, previously reject when "Battlefield 1" World War 1 was pitched by EA DICE the first time. Soderlund was concerned that gamers would not find fighting in trenches fun.

But Jorgensen's zeal about the rapid advancement of technology during the war must have won them over that in the end, EA conceded to make the "Battlefield" World War 1, reports IGN. Jorgensen explains that the technological going on behind the scenes during the war is an opportunity for game developers.

During the First World War, a massive technology shift occurred. At the war's onset, people were fighting on horseback but towards the war's end, they were using submarines, battleships, tanks and airplanes. For Jorgensen, this is the perfect setting for "Battlefield" World War 1.

And it seems that the proponents of the game were right. "Battlefield 1" World War 1 trailer is now one of the most well-liked trailers on YouTube history. It's a good indication that the gaming community would like it as well it as well.

"Battlefield 1" World War 1 release date is slated for Oct. 21, 2016. In the meantime, enjoy the "Battlefield 1" trailer below.
