Jeremy Lin Latest News & Update: Linsanity Opts Out, Takes Another Risk In NBA Free Agency [POLL]

Jeremy Lin got a new lease on life with the Charlotte Hornets last season despite being relegated to a sixth man role for majority of the 2015-16 NBA season. Lin’s playing time may have diminished but the fact is he was comfortable playing ball once again.

Jeremy Lin was initially signed to a two-year $4.9 million deal but had a player option in year 2. And as expected, the former Harvard standout declined the player option meaning he will join the wild NBA free agent market this Summer.

While Jeremy Lin has opted out, it doesn’t necessarily mean that he is totally cutting tied with the Charlotte Hornets. Lin’s decision not to pick up the player option is seen as a similar reason why most players will be opting out of their respective deals. It is about racking in more money tied up with the rising team salary caps expected to take effect by next season.

Hence, Lin could still end up playing with the Hornets if the team offers him a bigger salary. Lin will have options which possibly include former teams (New York Knicks and Houston Rockets) trying to pitch something his way.

In all, Jeremy Lin will have options and his off-the-bench performance last year has helped him boost his stock. Right now, the rumor mill is expected to run wild on where Lin may land. Taking a cue from what he said back in April, only Jeremy Lin knows what may be next for him.

“It kind of goes in line with my whole theme of just being able to let go and trust God,” said Lin at the time via the Charlotte Observer when the Hornets were preparing for the first round of the 2015-16 NBA playoffs.

Free agency will have a lot of available talent led by the likes of Kevin Durant and most likely LeBron James. Jeremy Lin may not be at the top of the helm but is expected to get some tempting offers headed his way.
