'Gears of War' Character General RAAM Joins 'Killer Instinct;' Details Here

General RAAM is the latest character to be included in “Killer Instinct.” The announcement was made by Microsoft and Iron Galaxy Studios at the Microsoft E3 2016 press conference.

Gamers get to play General RAAM for free within the week. However, players may need to purchase the character if they wish to continue using him for the long term. According to Iron Games, “Killer Instinct” is the most-played fighting game on Xbox One. The character’s addition will certainly boost its popularity more.

GameSpot noted that General RAAM is a reptilian Locust soldier from “Gears of War. News of the character joining “Killer Instinct: Season 3” first surfaced in March 2016. Initially, Rash, Kim Wu, Tusk and Arbiter were announced to arrive when the game launched on March 29. RAAM, Mira and two more characters were slated to appear post-launch.

The general is the main villain in the original game and is equipped with a serrated sword, pistol and grenades. He can also summon Kryll to attack.The character first appeared in the first “Gear of War,” and continued to return in the game sequels. A special DLC titled “RAAM’s Shadow” was released for the third instalment in December 2011, where he was added as a multiplayer character.

Gematsu provided a number of screenshots of General RAAM in “Killer Instinct.” One image showed a far profile of the character. A photo presented him battling Fulgore, while another showed him fighting Shadow Jago. There was also a leaked image of the general fighting Riptor, Cinder and Kan-Ra, respectively. Some of his notable features include having the ability to chokehold his enemies with one hand, as well as turning into a purple form that seemed to emit a fiery energy. His huge frame and array of weapons have made him a formidable foe in all the games that he appeared in.

Killer Instinct” is a one-on-one combat fighting game. The series reboot was developed by Double Helix Games and published by Microsoft Studios. The game launched in November 2013 for Xbox One. The Windows 10-only version launched in March 2016. General RAAM will appear in the Windows 10 game.

IGN noted that Microsoft announced a new program called Xbox Play Anywhere, which allows gamers to play certain games across the Xbox One and Windows 10 PC and share achievements. “Killer Instinct: Season 3” is among the select titles in Xbox Play Anywhere. More updates and details on General RAAM are expected soon.
