'DOOM' Unto the Evil DLC Release Date, First Multiplayer Update Adds 3 New Maps, New Demonic Enemy

During the Bethesda E3 2016 press conference, Bethesda Softworks and id Software announced “DOOM” Unto the Evil DLC, which is the first multiplayer DLC of the 2016 first-person shooter game.

The new “DOOM” Unto the Evil DLC will provide three new maps named Offering, Ritual and Cataclysm. There will also be a new powerful enemy known as the Harvester, an equipment item, armor sets, a new gun, and taunts, among others. SnapMap, the level creator of the game, is said to get free updates which will arrive as new weapons, construction models that include Hell visual themes, logic options, new functionality, props and items.

Furthermore, users can make their own single-player experiences. The new functionality in SnapMap will include the popular weapon wheel in the campaign to aid creators make deeper single-player experiences. There will also be better ways to conveniently find and play new content in the SnapMap hub.

IGN revealed that the new weapon in “DOOM” Unto the Evil DLC is called the UAC EMG Pistol, while the Kinetic Mine is the new equipment. There will be new hack modules, as well as new approaches to customize the DOOM marine using different patterns, taunts, armor sets and colors.

Gematsu reported that aside from “DOOM” Unto the Evil DLC, there will be two new modes that will come in July 2016. The first is called Exodus, which will be a unique version of capture-the-flag, with only a single flag. The second is called Sector, which is a new capture-and-hold mode with several zones. In summer 2016, Bethesda is also set to launch three free-for-all-modes, which includes the Classic Deathmatch. Later in June, the first level of “DOOM” will reportedly be free to download for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC players.

Siliconera wrote that “DOOM” Unto the Evil is an excellent way for the game to entice more multiplayer gamers. The DLC’s key features include a relentless campaign that lets players destroy demons in various ways using state-of-the-art weaponry. The signature fast-paced arena-style combat that the franchise is known for will be showcased in the new multiplayer content, but include both classic and new game modes. There are also power-ups that let gamers play as a demon.

“DOOM” launched on May 13, 2016 and has become a huge hit, moving up to be the second best-selling game in the United States in its month of release. The Unto the Evil DLC will release in July 2016.
