'Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 3' First Gameplay Footage Revealed, Release Date, Storyline & Everything We Know So Far

EGA and Relic Games recently announced that “Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 3” will be heading to PC soon. During E3 Judge’s Week, Relic Games presented a gameplay demo and shared some of the features to expect.

“Warhammer 40,000” Dawn of War 3 will include new features, an all-new campaign, new mechanics and new locations. The development team stated that they had three specific goals while making the game. First, they wanted to showcase visually exciting battles, complete with unique animations and well-made models. Second, the team intended to emphasize the ability of players to build armies through super units and powerful heroes with special abilities. Third, they wanted to introduce their passion for the game to potential players.

Polygon revealed that the story of “Warhammer 40,000” Dawn of War delves on the conflict among three factions, namely the Space Marines, the Eldar and the Orks. The Space Marines are a warrior class, The Eldar are more strategic in battle, while the Orks are the most brutish group.

According to ShackNews, the team behind “Warhammer 40,000” Dawn of War 3 cited some of the adjustments that they made to an area of effect attacks, combat balancing, and visuals. The short gameplay demo presented Solaria, the Imperial Knight of the Space Marines, using her abilities and weapons. Gamers can rely on super units and heroes depending on their play style to shift battle in their favor. The developers intended to maintain the core elements that the franchise is known for, at the same time, introducing the universe to those who have not tried the real-time strategy game before.

“Warhammer 40,000” Dawn of War 3 also has a single-player campaign, where players can grow their army and territory and defend their base. Some of the notable units during the reveal include scouts who can observe enemy camps and summon surprise attacks.

Snipers are equipped with long range weapons, while assault marines have pistols, chainsaws and jump packs. Devastator squads carry machine guns and lasers, while dreadnought battle tanks can destroy enemy groups. There are also mid-level hero units and special abilities that armies can use. Players will also learn how to use resources strategically as the game progresses.

Relic Games has reportedly been working on “Warhammer 40,000” Dawn of War 3 since 2011, although they may have only increased development efforts in 2016. In the first press release, the game was slated to launch sometime in 2017. More updates and details are expected soon.
