'Total War: Warhammer' A Hit, Ranks No 2 In Steam

It seems gamers love "Total War: Warhammer," the latest offering from game developer Creative Assembly. The turn-based, real-time strategy game proved to be such a hit since it was released last month that "Total War: Warhammer" managed to rank second in Steam's tally last week.

For the second week in a row, "Total War: Warhammer" ranked second in Steam's sales, reports Rock Paper Shotgun. Surprisingly, it escaped the negativity surrounding its predecessor, the "Rome II" due to the positive gaming experience of the new game's users. In fact, it might be sometime before "Warhammer" drops from Steam's top list. But when it does eventually, people can surely expect it to claw its way back to the top when a DLC will be introduced.

"Total War: Warhammer's" success just proves that empire building type games is still a hit among video game players. The game, developed by Creative Assembly and published by Sega, allows players to act on their empire building urges, building and deploying armies to wage wars upon enemies.

The game also comes with a multiplayer mode, a useful feature if players want to validate how good they are in war strategy and battle tactics. With the multiplayer mode activated, "Total War: Warhammer" players can battle it out to see who is the better battle tactician.

"Total War: Warhammer" is also the series' fasting-selling game, reports Wikipedia. The game is reported to have sold 500,000 copies for the first few days after its release.

The game was well-received even by critics. Metacritic gave it an 86% rating while IGN rated "Total War: Warhammer" 8.6 out of 10 for its awesome characters and faction mechanics. On the other hand, GameSpot gave it a 9.0 out of 10 saying that it's the best game in the Total War series.

PC Gamer is likewise generous in its rating. The publication gave it a solid 86% saying, "If you find real history a bit bland... Warhammer is the Total War for you."

Completing Steam's top 5 games last week, "Hearts of Iron IV" tops the list, followed by "Total War: Warhammer" at second. "Grand Theft Auto V" is third, "Counter-Strike: Global Offensive" is fourth and "Youtubers Life" is fifth.

The video below shows an actual "Warhammer" battle and can give readers a glimpse how epic wars in "Total War: Warhammer" could get.
