Many secrets can come out of the closet when two of the leading companies in the smartphone business trade accusations in a heated court battle. It's the public, the consumers who get a chance to hear all those secrets. In the latest battle between top rivals, Apple and Samsung, there have been some revelations:
The Origin: When Apple designers went to the drawing board to design a new product, there will be about fifteen industrial designers who go into a huddle around a kitchen table in a locked-down design facility at 1 Infinite Loop, Cupertino.
No Nude iPhones: About 78 percent of iPhone users use a case to cover their iPhones, according to internal consumer survey by Apple that was presented to court as evidence for the trial hearings.
Microsoft is Apple's Pal: All rivals are not the same to Apple, as it does not go after everyone who steps on its patents. Apple had licensed some of its patents to Microsoft with a condition that it must not copy Apple's products. This was revealed by an Apple executive who testified for the trial.
Apple Accepts Smaller iPads: It's a well known fact that Steve Jobs did not like the idea of a smaller tablet. He felt they were not usable, and made it publicly known. That is not what Eddy Cue, senior vice president Apple thinks, as he said that Jobs was "very receptive" to idea of rolling out a seven inch iPad.
Apple Rakes in More Moolah: In the court trials it was revealed that both Apple and Samsung made money, they revealed about their device sales, where Samsung took $460 million in revenue per tablet while Apple made still better, $558 million.
Samsung Wanted to be in The Same League: Samsung had iPhone envy, which was quite serious. This was revealed in the 132-page evaluation made by Samsung where it compared Samsung's Galaxy to Apple's iPhone in gruelling detail.
