A new DLC for Skyrim, Hearthfire is on the cards by Bethesda Softworks. The company released its Dawnguard DLC for Skyrim (PC version) in August.
But the PlayStation 3 version has yet to be released by Bethesda. The studios parent company, Zenimax has filed for a trademark application under The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim under the name of Hearthfire.
In the past couple of months Bethesda has filed two trademarks, one for the phrase "Fus Ro dah" in April, and another for a title "Dragonborn."
In the Elder Scrolls lore, the name "Hearthfire" has couple of connections, there is a book in Skyrim called "2920, vol 09 - Hearth Fire" and one of the autumn months in the Tamriel's calendar is Hearthfire.
This could be meant to be defensive, since someone can easily sell "Fus Ro dah" t-shirts.
The application for trademark of Hearthfire pertains to "Computer game software for use with computers and video game consoles; downloadable computer game software offered via the internet and wireless devices."
Though it is quite early to for Bethesda to come out with a full game from the series, the company had long said they will be releasing a full-scale DLC like Dawnguard which will support the game.
Gameranx predicts that the name Herthfire is Necromancy-related word. "Tales and Tallows" is a holiday celebrating Necromancy (an illegal practice under the imperial law), and the holiday appears in the third of Heathfire. So the prediction is if the game will offer players the role of Necromancers of their adversaries, so will Skyrim get a zombie-themed DLC? We will wait and watch.
