Google customers will now be able to purchase apps, movies, music, and ebooks can from Google Play.
Google Play is an online ap store that features music, magazines, TV shows and a host of items available for purchase. Android Police originally reported the news of Google offering gift cards, last week. Google announced that it would be offering cards at retail stores like GameStop, Radioshack and Target.
Google said Walmart will begin offering the cards in Septemeber. With no expiry date, the cards are featured with denominations of $10, $25, and $50. The gift card will not work outside the U.S. even if anyone manages to get hold of the card, which will have a redemption code underneath the scratch-off panel. Google will be checking the location when you try to redeem it. In the case of a U.S. user is in another country, it still will not be possible to use the card.
Google has made it clear that customers will not be able to perform "Android app subscriptions, magazine subscriptions, or hardware and accessory purchases." Purchases like Nexus 7, or chargers etc., cannot be made. "Android apps and games" can be purchased along with purchase of "extra levels, add-on packs, and virtual currency," the company announced.
Google Play balance has a maximum limit of $2,000 and users can use gift cards as top up. Gift Card users below the age of 13 cannot use them. Teenagers between ages 13-17 can make a purchase without the need of credit cards now.
