'Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters' Launches Official Website; What We Like About It

Bandai Namco recently launched the official website for "Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters." The new website provided a lot of details about the upcoming 3DS game, a deck battle role-playing game (RPG) where players get to use the abilities of different Appmon.

The "Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters" website provided some details about the game, including some of the abilities of unique Appmon, how to scan codes to befriend the digital creatures, and related merchandise.

Anime News Network revealed that the anime story of "Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters" focused on unknown creatures that live within smartphone apps, existing in the boundary between digital space and the human world. The Appli Monsters or Appmon or AI lifeforms that can both think and act.

Their presence in the boundary also allows people and the system to interact and function. However, Leviathan, the "last boss AI," gains control of the Appmon using a virus and starts to hack all systems, also beginning to take control of the human world from digital space.

Haru Shinkai (voiced by Yumi Uchiyama) is the main character in the story, who is compelled to get the Appli Drive (voiced by Wataru Takagi). The Appli Drive is used to materialize the search app monster Gacchimon (voiced by Kokoro Kikuchi). In "Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters," players get to know more about the strange digital creatures, the secret of the Appli Drive, the boundary where Appmons thrive and the App Combine, which can fuse two Appmons.

Gematsu noted that player of "Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters" can scan the QR codes of the Appmon Chip toys with the Nintendo 3DS to befriend Appmon during the game. The deck battle RPG will have players collect and grow various Appmon as they explore the environment. Linking Appmons can also be done, which will result to added abilities. A new Appmon can result by fusing two Appmons. Gamers can experiment and see different unique combinations.

Gematsu also revealed that Bandai Namco and its partners will also offer different game-related bonuses, such as Appmon Chips, Appli Drive, Appmon Band, Appmon Pairing Cover Set, Appliarise Action Figures and Appmon 7code Pad. The release date of the full retail game has yet to be announced. In the meantime, players can look forward to the launch of "Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters Cyber Arena" in Japan in fall 2016. The animation is set to premiere in October in Tokyo, Japan. More updates and details are expected soon.
