'Uncharted 4' Voice Actor Says No To Mark Wahlberg Playing Nathan Drake

'Uncharted 4' Voice Actor Says No To Mark Wahlberg Playing Nathan Drake

An "Uncharted 4" movie is currently being discussed with Mark Wahlberg rumored to play the lead character. However, one voice actor negated the idea of the "Transformers" star taking on the role of Nathan Drake.

Nolan North, the voice actor of Nathan Drake in the action-adventure game franchise, commented that out of the list of actors who will potentially play the character in the "Uncharted 4" movie, Mark Wahlberg would not be his initial choice. He said that he last heard that Wahlberg was still a potential pick, but he really does not see how the actor would fit the role.

GameSpot reported that North joked how he would have liked to play Drake himself, although he thinks that he is already too old. He added that by the time that the "Uncharted 4" film is finished, he might be old enough to play Sullivan, Drake's much older treasure-hunting friend. North explained that he wanted the part about a decade ago when he was about 34 or 35 years old. However, the project has remained in talks for a long time. He also rejected the idea of doing a cameo in the film.

North told Daily Star that his first choice for Nathan Drake for "Uncharted 4" would be Chris Pratt. He explained that the actor would do the character justice, since Pratt's role in "Guardians of the Galaxy" was very close to Drake. He is vulnerable and partly funny and confident.

Wahlberg's potential involvement in "Uncharted 4" started in 2010. David O. Russell was original slated to serve as director, but has since exited. Neil Burger stepped in to replace Russell. Since then, director Seth Gordon has been set to direct the movie, while Mark Boal is in charge of the screenplay. Other potential actors in the planned film include Robert DeNiro, Joe Pesci, Scarlett Johansson and Amy Adams.

The "Uncharted 4" movie was expected to begin filming in 2015, but fans are still waiting for official announcements. North said that the movie has a lot of potential, but still requires a lot of work. He thinks that at present, the project has an "uphill battle" and that there are not too many people who are keen on seeing Hollywood's adaptation of the hit game series.

In the meantime, "Uncharted 4" fans will have to wait for a confirmation regarding the cast, as well as the official launch date. Mark Wahlberg has yet to comment on the possibility of taking on the lead role soon.
