Facebook has again rolled up its sleeves and headed back to the drawing board.
The social media company introduced the new dual-pane layout for Facebook Messages and keyboard shortcuts on Wednesday. And now, they've focused their efforts on mobile apps. Facebook apps for iPads and iPhones will be getting faster and better.
In response to user's biggest complaints about the Facebook app being "sluggish," the company has released new faster apps for iPhones and iPads.
"What they did here is what they should have done in 2008, the year after the iPhone shipped," Ajay Juneja, founder and chief technology officer of Speak With Me Inc. told The Los Angeles Times. "Before, it was excruciatingly painful. It made me never want to use Facebook on a mobile device. Now it's dramatically faster."
Facebook has made its "mobile first" a top priority.
"We get a lot of feedback from our users. People write in. People post. And people comment," mobile product manager Facebook, Mick Johnson, told The Los Angeles Times. "We listen to all of that. We also use the app ourselves. It's the app I use every day. We wanted to fix all the pain points that we felt ourselves."
Johnson also added that there will be "interesting things" in store for Android users in the future. Nearly 7,000 devices use Facebook, he said.
Though the new app looks similar to the original, the change is in the native coding written for iOS said The New York Times blog. There is also a change in the news feed, now the status updates and 'Like's will be updated in real time. Another feature is camera and Messenger apps being integrated into the Facebook app.
