'Halo 5' Is Getting A Major Update Called 'Warzone Firefight'; Release Date, Gameplay & Everything We Know So Far

"Halo 5" will release its biggest expansion ever at the end of June 2016. Called "Warzone Firefight," it will be the eighth expansion of the first-person shooter.

Furthermore, Microsoft will offer the full game for free from June 29 to July 5, 2016, in celebration of its launch and as part of the Free Play Days promotion. Warzone Firefight will be available starting June 29 on Xbox One. "Halo 5" will also be discounted by 50 percent at around the same time for those who wish to purchase the full version.

GameSpot noted that 343 Industries tested the Warzone Firefight mode in April 2016 as part of an open beta. It is one of the largest big additions of the update. Some of the things to expect from the "Halo 5" update include three new multiplayer maps, Grunt Goblin, a new grunt-mech boss, new Reqs, which include the Cyclops armor set, Cinder armor set, the new Covenant vehicle, weapon variants, and more.

The three maps feature one for Arena (Molten), and two for Warzone, called Attack on Sanctum and Prospect. Aside from the new content for multiplayer, there will be a Score Attack mode to campaign. A new Forge canvas called Tidal will be featured for the mapmaking tools.

Xbox wrote that 343 Industries used player feedback to enhance the game mode. Warzone Firefight will feature increased difficulty in each round, as well as new bosses and vehicles. One notable vehicle is the UNSC VTOL AV-49 Wasp, which can be deployed as a REQ vehicle in all modes and available in Forge. Score Attack is a new way to play the campaign. The scoring system allows gamers to go against their friends to earn medal and points by playing either solo or online co-op. Beating enemies in good style will result to bigger points.

As for the maps, Attack on Sanctum in Warzone Firefight features the Covenant homeworld of Sanghelios. Prospect is characterized by rocky terrain in Warzone Assault. Molten is for Arena players, which showcases lava and other dangerous traits.

The three new maps are expected to add excitement to the current setup and bring intensity to the various game modes. Tidal is an ocean-themed canvas that has long been requested by fans. The new update will also deliver HCS Pro League weapon skins and more customization sets.

The new "Halo 5" update, Warzone Firefight, delivers a lot of exciting new content and releases on June 29, 2016.
