Multiplayers are the "in thing" for many gamers and demands for most games to feature multiplayer modes are constantly increasing.
But the question is, are multiplayers required in singleplayer games?
Obnoxious Gamer reports that Electronic Art's Dead Space and BioShock of 2K Games have added multiplayer modes into their games. The games are interesting in themselves; they tell stories that take us through amazing scenes and environments. But there have been games like Volition, Inc's Saints Row that have removed the multiplayer mode from their recent game.
There are games for which the multiplayer mode is totally not required as it neither helps the game nor to further its story and does not match the game setup making the game look "disjointed."
Obnoxious Gamer suggests that it would be better if game developers focus their time more on the singleplayer mode rather than cater to the masses and compromise quality. Games like The Darkness, whose multiplayer functions were full of bugs and lacked any punch is a prime example.
Then there are the last-minute glitches, that developers have to work on a patch for it, that cost them $40,000 to be approved by Microsoft said Obnoxious Gamer. A game that is bug-free and complete is lot better than pressurizing the developers to develop games with multiplayer modes.
