Rumor mills were churning last week about DC Entertainment talking with Ben Affleck about directing the popular of "Justice League" movie.
But now it seems those rumors were wrong, with Affleck revealing he wasn't even approached to make the movie.
"I'm not working on the Justice League. One of the problems with entertainment web sites is that they need to fill pages, and that's how rumours get started," he told 24 Hours Vancouver. "Justice League sounds really exciting, but it's not something I'm working on."
Affleck, who has a credible record with directing films like "Gone Baby Gone," "The Town," and upcoming film, "Argo," could have been a big, accomplished name to bring to the project. Fans of Justice League will be thoroughly disappointed.
Warner Bros. have been under heavy pressure to come with such a film after "Avengers" became a blockbuster hit. Batman series director, Christopher Nolan, quickly shot down rumours of his involvement in the movie.
"I've got no plans to do anything more, and certainly, no involvement with any Justice League project," he told The Hollywood Reporter.
Moviehole reported that directors Lana and Andy Wachowski, who made "The Matrix" trilogy are up on Warner Bros. wishlist.
Zack Snyder told reporters at the Comic-Con that a Justice League movie depended on the success of the new "Superman."
"(That will ) determine the future of more DC Comics properties" he said. "anything is possible (after that)."
Solo superhero films like the "Green Lantern" got mixed results. Batman was a box office hit, and the upcoming "The Man of Steel" movie, which will hit theaters June 14, 2013, will be crucial in the future of the "Justice League" movie.
Screen Rant believes if there is a delay then solo films of DC Comics like Wonder Woman, The Flash, Aquaman might come out with their own films. So, as of now, a Justice League movie hangs in balance.
