'The Last of Us 2: Days Gone' Latest News & Update: No-Show at E3 2016! Release Date, Rumors & News

Anticipating fans were disappointed as "Last of Us 2: Days Gone" failed to make an appearance at the recently-concluded Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016 in Los Angeles, California. It seems the wait will have to take a little more while, as speculations point to an early2018.

According to HNGN, prospects have actually emailed Naughty Dog, the developer of the game, to express their disappointment. Because the title has been subject of great anticipation for quite some time, it comes as no surprise that the event went grim for fans. But nonetheless, the hype remains and high expectations are set.

Fans appear to remain hopeful as reports are consistent in claiming that the game is already in development. However, it must be pointed that there is no official news of its release date yet.

Neil Druckmann, creative director for Naughty Dog, hasn't made any statement game's release. As cited by by Cinema Blend, Druckmann confirmed that they were already conceptualizing aspects of the game and even creating prototypes while working on "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End."

He confirms that they must had their hands tied as they were tasked to focus on the latter by the company. "Uncharted 4" is currently out for the PS4. It sells for $59,99 at GameStop.

Interestingly, some news on Twitter can also be a source of hope for fans. It was reported by Chatt Sports Net that in May, lead designer Emilia Schatz posted a simple job offer saying that Naughty Dog is looking for several level designers.

No other information or details were included. However, this could also hint to the development of the game as the previous installment of the "Last of Us" also had multiple level features.

There is even more hope for the gaming community as even "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" is hinting on the release of the game as cited by Crossmap. The game contains an Easter egg that shows a poster having the title "The Last of Us" but the tagline reads "American Daughters."

There is also an illustration of two characters. Fans might debate that one of the characters is actually Ellie from the game although others could also say that it is Ellie's mother.

"The Last of Us 2" is expected to be a sci-fi adventure type of game, either being a continuation on the story of Joel and Ellie or perhaps a whole new set of characters.
