iPad Mini Rumors: Device to be Released in October After iPhone 5 September Release?

So this holiday season you might be able to get your hands on the long-rumored iPad Mini.

AllThingsD reported that the California-based company will hold two events, one for the iPhone 5 in September and the other for iPad Mini in October.

It was previously rumored that the iPad Mini would be announced with iPhone 5 Technology. As usual, Apple has not confirmed anything yet. The iPhone 5 is supposed to start shipping by Sept. 21.

According to earlier rumors, the iPad Mini will have display of less than 8-inches. It's going to be less expensive than the previous iPads. It will also have a smaller charging port.

Though initially Steve Jobs was against the idea of smaller iPads, he reportedly changed his mind before his death. This was revealed in an email sent by Eddy Cue, senior vice president of Internet Software and Services at Apple to Tim Cook, Apple CEO on Jan. 24 2011, "I believe there will be a 7-inch market and we should do one...I expressed this to Steve several times since Thanksgiving and he seemed very receptive the last time. I found email, books, Facebook, and video very compelling on a 7-inch. Web browsing is definitely the weakest point, but still usable," reported ABC News.

The iPad Mini is poised for direct competition with Amazon's Kindle Fire and Barnes & Noble's Nook tablets. Google also released a 7-inch Nexus 7 tablet.

"I don't think Apple would want reviews of both a new iPhone and new-size iPad appearing at the same time. Why share the spotlight? Why have another Apple product battling with the iPhone for the top spots in news coverage?," John Gruber of Daring Fireball said recently. "The more I think about it, the less sense it makes for the iPhone to even share the stage at the announcement with any other product. The iPhone is too big, too cool, and garners too much attention - and it's in Apple's interest to keep that attention undiluted."

Looks like its shaping up to be a pretty exciting fall.
