Microsoft Sheds Light On Project Scorpio [VIDEO]

Touted as the most powerful gaming console ever created, Microsoft's Project Scorpio promises 4K and VR support, 320GB/s of memory bandwidth, and the capability of supporting all Xbox One games. Project Scorpio is set to be released in time for the holidays next year, and has garnered a lot of buzz especially with the trailer that arrived during E3.

According to Gamespot, Microsoft created Project Scorpio with fans' feedback in mind, coming up with a console that addresses the needs and wants of every Xbox gamer. "We're trying to shift the culture and put the power of when to upgrade in the hands of gamers, as opposed to it being driven by technology or a corporate initiative," Microsoft Game Studios' Shannon Loftis explained to the Associated Press. "I hope that we don't frustrate gamers. We're responding to them. The feedback we've received is that they want more choices."

This groundbreaking new console will make it so much easier for game developers to roll out new games, as this will save them time, money, and resources to do so, thanks to Project Scorpio's compatibility. This way, they can focus more on the aesthetics and story, and thereby create games that can really capture a gamer's imagination.

Another thing to look forward to this year is the Xbox One S, which is aiming for a holiday 2016 release. The Xbox One S is believed to have a $300 price tag, and will come in 50GB and 1TB memory options. While current listings in Microsoft and other retailers' websites indicate a December 2016 release date, a representative for the company told Gamespot that it is only a "placeholder date," which means fans will have to wait for the official word on the release.
