"The Dark Knight Rises" by Chris Nolan, the last of the Batman trilogy has been both a critical and a financial success. But the Batman character has been left in a strange situation.
With reports of scribe Will Beall, writing a script for the "Justice League" movie and Zack Snyder already done with the newest Superman movie, it's hard to figure out where the Dark Knight fits in. Especially since Nolan has categorically upheld that he will not be a part of another Batman movie.
ScreenRant reported that DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. might not release any solo Batman movies, but might introduce him as part of the Justice League team.
Batman-on-Film, which is known to provide valid news, reports that sources say after the "Man of Steel" movie, the next in line will be "Justice League." A speculated 2015 release date puts it in direct competition with "Avengers 2" from Marvel, which has a release date of May 1, 2015.
Besides is DC's "Metal Men," which will be directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, there are less solo super hero films in production. Though characters like Flash, Wonder Woman have been in the pipeline for years, newer properties like Ant Man and "Guardians of the Galaxy" will be introduced by Disney/Marvel.
ScreenRant suggests DC Entertainment/Warner Bros. is putting all their energy into making the "Justice League" movie which is rumored to be directed by the likes of Wachowskis, Lana and Andy of "Matrix" repute.
Solo films with superheroes barring of course the Batman series have been disappointing (Remember the "Green Lantern"?).
If "Justice League" fails in box office then it will mark the end for DC Entertainments' league of superheroes and will possibly give rebirth to Nolan's Batman series.
It will be interesting to see how Batman in the future will be portrayed.
