Final Fantasy VII' Official Monopoly Game Announced For Release In April 2017

"Final Fantasy" merchandise has become widely sought items both online and in physical stores but would a Monopoly board game with the video game as a theme become a worldwide hit?

Merchoid, an online video game retailer, is already offering pre-order of "Final Fantasy VII" official Monopoly game boards at a $49.99 all-in tag price. Described as a business adventure through the "evolving city of Midgar," the FFVII monopoly game is set to be unleashed on April 14, 2017.

While some think that having a Monopoly version of the popular Square Enix video game is a stupid idea, many are still excited to get their hands on the merchandise. Fans of the game in particular are excited to play with Cloud, Aeris, Sephiroth, among others while playing the classic "fast dealing property trading" board game, per IGN.

The Verge thinks that a combination of Monopoly and Midgar "makes a lot of sense" considering that Shinra is monopolizing power, not to mention the city being the perfect image of typical dystopian community. Plus, there is the fact that Cloud and the others will be able to defeat Shinra in another game which makes it a lot more gratifying particularly for avid fans of the 1997 game.

And considering that there has not been any word on when the remake of the actual video game will be rolled out to PlayStation 4, the announcement its board game counterpart may actually ease the gamers' impatience in waiting to experience the remake of the "Final Fantasy VII."

The most recent update from Square Enix about its release is that it will be done in multiple parts to emphasize the individual experience that each entry presents, per a December report from Kotaku. At the time, the game developer promised that each episode would comprise a full-game's worth of content.
