Apple is offering gift cards for Apple users who want to get rid of their year-old devices:iPhone, iPad, or computer. Through Apple's Reuse and Recycling program you can select the model, color and condition of your device from the online wizard and will show a price that your device is worth.
If you can send the device and the power cable, the company will send you gift certificate which is redeemable against a new online purchase in Apple Store. This is perfect in case you are waiting to buy a new iPhone, said USA Today.
Prices are subjective to damages inclusive of scratches to the device. Apple will pay up to $345 for old devices.
Third-party services may provide a better price for your device but the money you get will be only eligible for the Apple store.
Last year, with the announcement of iPhone 4S, Apple offered $200 for 16GB iPhone 4, according to USA Today.
Various reports have indicated iPhone 5 will be announced on Sept. 12 and will start shipping by Sept. 21.
