Mass Effect: Infiltrator was released on iPhone and iPod on the 6th of March 2012. It was released on Android on the 22nd of May 2012. Mass Effect: Infiltrator is a third-person shooter video game developed by IronMonkey Studios. The game is currently on sale for just 99 cents.
Commander Shepard is sitting this game out and instead In Infiltrator, you're playing the part of Cerberus agent Randall Ezno. Basically the plot revolved around Ezno, going from a Cerberus operative to an enemy of the organization.
He has implants that were suppose to have indoctrinated him. His facial scars are reminiscent of Shepard's in ME2. His captain within Cerberus, Inali Renata is volunteered for similar implants against her will. So Ezno strikes back against his former allies and fight his way through the Cerberus base trying to contact the Alliance. He is trying to rescue himself, a mysterious hacker and Renata.
The game's control mimics its console big brother, including the use of cover, gun play and biotic powers. The game has two sets of controls. With the default, player taps the target directly on the screen. Sometime this doesn't work if the enemy is at a distance. The other control set is manual and the aiming mimics dual-stick controls.
Just like other Mass Effect games there is a morality system consisting of Paragon and Renegade. In fact Randall's implants and biotics will glow according to his morality, red from Renegade choices and blue from Paragon. The decisions in the game do not carry the weight of the galaxy like Shepard's Mass Effect games, but the two-path lead to an important decision at the end of the game.
Graphically the game is pretty good and reminds me of a Late-era PlayStation 2 or original Xbox title. The game lacks a variety of location and mostly shows off the facility's hallways, but it fits story. The game is more about shooting than talking or exploring. This is a solo-mission, so there are no squad mates.
While the game isn't close to the other entries in the Mass Effect series, it is still a fun ride. Now that they have improved the game and added a bonus mission that lets gamers play as a turian, it is a worthy pick up. I give it a 7/10. Remember Mass Effect Infiltrator is only 99 cents on iPad, iTouch and iPad. The game is still selling for $6.99 on Google play.
