'Man of Steel' Star Henry Cavill 'No better feeling than to play Superman'

"Man of Steel" star, Henry Cavill believes there's nothing better than donning the red iconic red cape.

"There's no better feeling than to get [the call that I got the part of Superman]," he told Batman-on-Film. "Actually, I was at home when the phone rang. It was an unknown number and I ignored it, then looked down and saw it was Zack Snyder. I was like 'Oh my God!' and he'd hung up at that stage. Fortunately, he called back.

"What I can say [about this take on Superman] is that it's a modernization of the character and a very realistic view of one, obviously, very fantastic individual. It's an unreal situation, but it's approached from a very practical viewpoint. We wanted to make the character easier to identify with."

Cavill discussed the pressure of living up to such a big role.

"It's important to do the role [of Superman] justice," he said. "There are a lot of people relying on me to do this well. I gladly accept that responsibility, and it's a great one to have because it's a wonderful opportunity. I don't let the pressure get to me because that's going to hinder my performance and therefore, let people down. So I choose to ignore the pressure side of it and focus on doing justice to Superman."

"Man of Steel" will be directed by Zack Snyder ("Watchmen", "300") and produced by Christopher Nolan (director of Batman trilogy). The movie is scripted by David S. Goyer (script writer for "Blade" trilogy and Batman trilogy). Cavill is known for his roles in "Immortals" and "Blood Creek."

The movie will also star Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, Christopher Meloni, and Russell Crowe.

The film is based on character of Superman by DC Comics. The film will hit the big screens on June 14, 2013.
