Though, Borderlands 2 official release date is set for Sept. 18, which is just two weeks away. The game will be getting its first DLC, the Mechromancer, which has been on the cards for quite some time now, "by October 16."
According to Randy Pitchford, Gearbox CEO, the pack will be available by Oct. 16 at PAX Prime. The release of DLC is sooner than its original release of "60 to 90 days" after the release Borderlands 2 game reported SlashGear.
With Mechromancer, the game will get its second playable female character totalling up to five playable classes. This will give fans the choice on the style of play. Mechromancer has a robot companion that can be ordered or deployed to defeat enemies. The robot and Mechromancer can even work in tandem in the destruction of foes.
Mechromancer features options for new and veteran players, as far as skill tree is concerned.
The Mechromancer DLC is free if you pre-order Borderlands 2. If you don't, the game costs $9.99 or 800 Microsoft Points.
There are four more DLCs planned by Gearbox after it delivers Mechromancer DLC.
"We have committed ourselves and are in pre-production on four campaign DLCs. These are all big original, themed, fully built out campaign DLCs. This isn't just 'here have a couple of guns," Pitchford told reporters.
He added that all the four DLCs will be similar to The Secret Armory of General Knoxx, a popular DLC from the original Borderlands game.
This implies that fans will be getting a good amount of additional content for Borderlands 2. This will make the game bigger.
