'American Assassin' Movie: Bruce Willis to Play Senior CIA Operative?

In his acting career spanning over 30 years, Bruce Willis has played many military and police operatives; now, the veteran actor will play the role of CIA operative, said Variety.

It has been reported that Willis is in talks to play the lead in "American Assassin," a CBS Films action thriller which will be directed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff ("Traitor"). The movie is scripted by Mike Finch.

The movie is an adaptation from the novel, written by Vince Flynn. "American Assassin" is the 11th book in the series which revolves around CIA Agent Mitch Rapp. The movie will tell the story of how Rapp, a college scholar and an athlete joined the CIA because of the death of his girlfriend in a terrorist attack.

The movie is yet to choose who will play the part of Rapp. Willis will be playing Rapp's mentor in CIA.

Variety reports that, Lorenzo di Bonaventura will be producing the movie. The film will be produced via Bonaventura Picture with Nick Wechsler. Willis worked with di Bonnaventura for the 2010 movie, "RED." Incidentally, he played a former black-ops CIA agent in the movie and it was also a book adaptation from DC Comics. The sequel for "Red" is confirmed and filming will start in Montreal this fall.

"American Assassin" will begin production in the fall of 2013.
