Apple to Launch New Line of iMacs?

Apple will launch a new line of iMacs soon.

"Get ready, because the iMacs are coming," said a Fox News report, which further elaborated on the new line of iMacs. It will be powered with Intel's Ivy Bridge processors, better graphics, expanded SSD capacities, and a USB 3.0.

Last updated in May 2011, iMacs were powered by Intel Core i5 processors. Two models, a 21-inch and a 27-inch version, were released. Although the 21.5-inch model is widely available, the 27-inch model is currently "out of stock."

On the possibility of the newer version having Retina display with high pixel density, NBC reported that the iMac will be getting "very, very high resolution display."

"I've now heard from multiple sources that while an iMac update is indeed coming this fall, it will not have Retina displays. Oops. Can't win 'em all," said Marco Arment, creator of Instapaper on his blog post.

Since the optical drive will be eliminated from its current position on the side, the new iMac should be a slimmer version. The announcement of a new iMac might come alongside the iPad Mini's announcement.

At present, the starting price of iMac is $1199. It's an all-in-one desktop with an in-built HD camera, LED backlighting and Thunderbolt port.
