There is more music to the ears. Apart from introducing the iPhone 5, technology giant Apple unveiled a few new iPods at the media event at San Francisco Wednesday.
The new iPod comes with new designs and more colors. iPods are one of the most popular music players and was first introduced in 2001.
iPod Nano
Apple has reinvented the Nano, with a multi-touch 2.5-inch screen. The previous version had a 1.54-inch screen. Apple added a home button making it look like a mini iPod Touch. It also boasts features like Bluetooth and an in-built pedometer for fitness enthusiasts. The redesigned version is of the size of a credit card. It also supports video playback and FM radio.
It comes in Silver, Graphite, Blue, Green, Orange, Pink, and Red Special Edition. It will be priced $149 for 16GB.
iPod Touch
Apple added new color to iPod Touch, making it look better with an increase from 3.5-inch screen display to a 4-inch Retina display the same as the new iPhone 5. It's thinner and lighter and has a softer back. It's packed with a 5MP iSight camera with LED flash. The camera can shoot 1080p HD video. It also comes with a front-facing camera for FaceTime calls.
The most interesting addition to Touch is the inclusion of a dual-core A5 chip that will make it powerful than its predecessors. It will improve the battery life with 40 hours of music or 8 hours of video. But most importantly, the new iPod Touch will run on iOS 6 giving its users, access to Maps, Passbook, Facebook integration, and Siri.
It comes with a "loop" that will prevent the device from falling. The device will allow the user to wirelessly stream the content to the HDTV with the inclusion of AirPlay in the new model.
Pricing
iPod Nano will be priced $149 for 16GB. iPod Touch will have price ranges from $299 for 32GB and $399 for 64GB model.
Availability
You can pre-order iPods Touch from Sept. 14 and for both iPods shipping will commence in October.
Both the iPods will get the newly designed earpods. Apple has packed its iPods with features that will certainly be fun to use and a great gadget.
