'Destiny: Rise of Iron' Latest News, Release Date & Update: New Gjallarhorn Sparrow Vehicle Unveiled via Livestream [VIDEO]

Fans of Bungie's "Destiny: Rise of Iron" would be excited to know that the formerly rumored new Sparrow vehicle inspired by the Gjallarhorn, an exotic rocket launcher, is now a reality. Bungie took to a livestream video to announce the news, among other exciting things lined up for the game.

While "Destiny: Rise of Iron" will not be out until September 20, fans can already preorder it for PlayStation 4. There hasn't been a preorder date set for Xbox One gamers, but Bungie community manager David Dague said that the preorders for that gaming platform will be available "soon."

During the livestream, Bungie unveiled the new Gjallarhorn Sparrow vehicle called Ghallarwing, which is inspired by the design of the exotic rocket launcher called Gjallarhorn. Gamers who do preorder "Destiny: Rise of Iron" will be able to get both the black and silver version of the Ghallarwing, or opt to purchase the standard version from the Eververse Trading Company store. What's even more exciting for those preordering the game, is that the Gjallarhorn rocket launcher will come as a freebie.

More good news for "Destiny: Rise of Iron" fans, as the next reveal event will occur in August during Gamescon, Gamespot reports. The reveal event will have a Crucible multiplayer mode theme, and the studio promises to unveil new maps and new combat mode, among many other cool new features.

For the first time, "Destiny: Rise of Iron" will feature two Patrol zones in one planet: the original Cosmodrome, and another Patrol zone in the Plaguelands. Bungie is remaining tight-lipped about Plaguelands as to keep it as a surprise for gamers, but it's fairly easy to assume that some more details about Plaguelands will arrive during Gamescon.

"Destiny: Rise of Iron" is created by Bungie and published by Activision. The game is directed by Christopher Barrett and produced by Scott Taylor. The first-person shooter game will be available for PlayStation and Xbox One beginning September 20.
