This year's San Diego Comic Con is bringing so much delight to comic book fans, as Nickelodeon has released episode 1 in the trilogy of animated shorts that feature the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles."

The first short that debuted yesterday features Donatello and Raphael battling in each other. The short is created by Jhonen Vasquez, who is the designer behind "INvader ZIM" and "Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja." The six-minute short that debuted in SDCC can be viewed below.

Vasquez is best known for creating "Johnny the Homicidal Maniac," which rancom from 1995 to 1997 under the Slave Labor Graphics publishing house. It spawned two spin-offs in the form of "Squee!," which spanned four issues, and "I Feel Sick," with two issues.

Vasquez sat down with Comic Book Resources in 2009 to talk about his passion for "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," and how the comics inspired him as a young man. He shared that upon discovering the Ninja Turtles, he became enamored in the way the art was created, and how "filthy" the characters were drawn. He said, "There was a sense of person just behind the printed page that I had never felt before, a thinner separation from production to my hands and eyes that just fired hooks out into me"

Fans should expect more "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" shorts during the SDCC, with one of them being created by "The Spectacular Spider-Man"'s Paul Jenkins, and "TMNT craetor Kevin Eastman. The third is created by "TMNT" executive producer and head writer, Brandon Auman.

In other "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" news, Polygon reports that earlier this month, Amazon signed an exclusive deal with Warner Bros. studios to bring the first three "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles," among other films, to Amazon's streaming service. Amazon Prime subscribers can access the films if they purchase the $99 year-long subscription.
