The mysterious purple villain, Thanos, who is seen at the end of "The Avengers." is indeed going to be the villain in a number of Marvel's upcoming movies, including "The Avengers 2" and "Guardians of the Galaxy."
Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, spoke to MTV and confirmed that Thanos would indeed feature in future ventures. He was also aware of the unbridled curiosity that the teaser of Thanos generated in "The Avengers."
"I love when the experience goes beyond the movie theater and encourages people to look deeper into our universe," he said. "There's a great track record now about lobbing something in at the last moment to get the audience buzzing.
"Particularly when it came to Thanos, [we knew] that most people in that audience had no idea who that purple guy was - but they could clearly tell he was important, and knew if they asked the two or three people sitting next to them, somebody would know who he was."
Feige did not reveal any particulars, but said that the next appearance of Thanos was carefully planned.
"Clearly, there's a purpose to us putting him in the end of that movie. We do have plans for him," he said. "I wouldn't say we ever feel the need to rush anything one way or the other. We succeeded in Phase One because we stuck to our guns and stuck to the plan. That plan took place over many, many years and it ultimately paid off. I see Phase Two unfolding in the same way of us taking our time, us doing what's right for each individual movie, while folding in elements that will not only build up to the culmination of Phase Two, but even Phase Three."
So, there is an indication that Thanos might show up in "Iron Man 3" or in "Thor: The Dark World".
Feige also told MTV that they are "pretty free to recast" when asked if Damion Poitier, who played the role of Thanos in "The Avengers" will be cast again.
The Marvel movie universe is getting bigger over the years, with solo movies of "Captain America," "Iron Man," "Thor" and "S.H.I.E.L.D" continuing to entertain comic fans and newcomers alike.
Screen Rant reports that Marvel's current success is due to "Iron Man" and fans are ready to accept "outlandish and fantastical content" like the one we will see in "Guardians of the Galaxy."
Viewers will get to know more about Thanos and how hungry he is for power in "Thor 2" and "Guardians of the Galaxy."
