UFC Rumors 2016: Brock Lesnar, Jon Jones Guilty Of Same Banned Substance, Fines Ahead

UFC Rumors 2016: Brock Lesnar, Jon Jones Guilty Of Same Banned Substance, Fines Ahead

The UFC goes deeper into controversy with drug-related problems to two top stars. This is with reference to the cases of Jon Jones and Brock Lesnar who ironically tested positive from the same banned substance – hydroxyl-clomiphene.

Separate plights

Jon Jones and Brock Lesnar followed different paths to UFC 200. Jones was pulled from his title match against champion Daniel Cormier while Lesnar moved on to face Mark Hunt.

Lesnar won over Hunt in dominant fashion though the revelation of the positive results of the banned substance cast a dark light on the successful return. Regardless, both are facing two-year bans from USADA.

Aside from the bans, fines could be forthcoming. In Lesnar’s case, he could lose a percentage of the $2.5 million paycheck he collected from UFC 200. Additionally, Mark Hunt has called on “The Beast” to have the decency to surrender half of his win or be kicked out of the UFC.

UFC will not fine Jones, Lesnar

As far as the UFC is concerned, they don’t have any plans of issuing fines to Jones or Lesnar per MMA Fighting. If ever, only the state athletic commissions will be handing them out.

The whole row places the UFC in the hot seat, hitting how the UFC handled the situation for both fighters. Digging deeper, the fact that Jones was pulled and Lesnar fought on also adds a bit of controversy.

The UFC fast-tracked Lesnar’s return and some can’t help but think that the company tried to elude these issues to make UFC 200 a success. Jones was unfortunately caught days before the event though this wasn’t the first time that “Bones” was caught for a drug-related violation.

The fate of both fighters will likely be settled before the year is over though Jones’ case is more sensitive. Lesnar could be suspended by the UFC but it technically doesn’t matter. He is under the WWE wing and is scheduled to fight at WWE SummerSlam 2016 next month against a returning Randy Orton.
