Sega was among the companies at the San Diego Comic Convention 2016 and like most, they did not disappoint. The gaming company announced a couple of new “Sonic the Hedgehog” game titles, both due to be out in 2017.

“Sonic Mania” Coming In the Spring of 2017

One one end is “Sonic Mania”, a game that picks off from the classic renditions of “Sonic the Hedgehog” in 2D. While the game looks fairly close to the game classic, there are expectedly improvements beyond.

That includes a plethora of new abilities and levels gamers can look forward to. Like previous game renditions of “Sonic the Hedgehog”, gamers can use “Sonic”, “Tails” or “Knuckles” in “Sonic Mania”. It promises to bring back a nostalgic feel though all that depends on the developers – Christian Whitehead, Headcannon and Pagoda West Games, Cinema Blend reported.

“Sonic Mania” will come out with versions for the PS4, Xbox One and the PC by the Spring of 2017. No version for the Nintendo NX was mentioned.

“Project Sonic” capping 2017 with Holiday release

Sega was however not limited to “Sonic Mania” alone. There is also another ambitious project the company had in mind – “Project Sonic”.

A teaser trailer (check below) was unravelled for the game that will reportedly be available for the Xbox One, PS 4 and Nintendo NX. The game will of course have “Sonic” as the main character though Nintendo Insider sees it as “a brand new experience” rather than a sequel to “Sonic Generations”.

On what to expect for the “Project Sonic”, it is likely that “Sonic” will be embarking on new journeys through a world filled with robots trying to take the hero down. These are more of speculations with the trailer the only point for reference available at this point.
