'The 100' Air Date, Spoilers, News & Update: Executive Producer Jason Rothenberg Teases Lexa's Possible Return, But Not in Season 4

It's going to be one hell of a fight for the crew of "The 100" once it returns with its fourth season sometime next year. Executive producer Jason Rothenberg, together with the cast, were on hand during the San Diego Comic Con last weekend to talk about what's next for the post-apocalyptic drama now that Earth is getting back at remaining human life after A.L.I.E. threatened to wipe off the planet.

During their visit to SDCC, Rothenberg shared that "The 100" need to find a way to stop the radiation to make the Earth a safe place to live again, lest they take to space once more and wait it out. The characters will have to deal with the lack of water on Earth as the radiation spreads and threatens the well being of the planet. The executive producer even hinted that the season 4 premiere will be an "insane" episode, which will introduce more new characters to the roster.

Speaking of characters, Zach McGowan's King Roan has been upgraded to a series regular once "The 100" comes back with its fourth season. Will he be the unifying factor that leads civilization to prevent the radiation from happening? Fans will have to wait and see. Meanwhile, the fourth season of the show will also see the return of Indra (Adina Porter) and Luna (Nadia Hilker), Hypable reports.

On the topic of returning characters, it seems that Rothenberg is open to the idea of bringing Lexa (Alycia Debnam Carey) back to "The 100." Lexa's death was devastating for fans and viewers, and it seems that the executive producer has heard the fans loud and clear. While the show offered some closure for Lexa and Clarke (Eliza Taylor), it seems that Rothenberg is still open to the idea of having her back on the show, Inquisitr reports.

It will be a very tricky feat to carry out, though, and if the writers and producers do decide to bring her back, it's not going to be in the fourth season of "The 100." Fans will have to wait and see what will happen to Clarke and the rest of the crew once "The 100" returns for its fourth season next year.
