Disney Infinity Latest Rumors & Update: Avalanche Software Phase Out Begins

Disney Infinity Latest Rumors & Update: Avalanche Software Slowly Phasing Out Series

The day that most Disney Infinity gamers have been dreading is drawing near. Early this year, word came out that Avalanche Software would be discontinuing production and now much of that is taking shape.

From the looks of it, Disney Infinity will be permanently off the grid by March 3, 2017. This means that the following months will see the slow death of the game series and the schedule for such has gotten many in a state of confusion.

While the last day of Disney Infinity has been revealed, it doesn’t technically cover all. Based on the reports from sites, the announcement comes with a lot of confusion on what truly lies ahead for gamers.

Per Game Spot, Disney Infinity games on game consoles such as the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4, PS3, Wii, 3DS, and Vita will allegedly be infinitely playable though online support will no longer be present. Support for community content will cease for every version by Sept. 30.

Take note that the versions mentioned cover mostly the game console niche. It doesn’t include the PC which is what has become confusing to most.

What lies ahead for PC and Apple TV versions?

On one end, the PC and Apple TV versions of Disney Infinity will reportedly end on Sept. 30. They will no longer be available for play and purchase starting that date.

However, it was also stated that gamers playing the versions for Windows 8 and Windows 10 versions can enjoy the game on March 3, 2017. This covers even the Steam versions of Disney Infinity 2.0 and 3.0.

Better to use Steam

The latest update tries to clarify the mess a bit though not entirely. PC version bought directly from the official Disney Infinity website will no long be available to play. For those who got theirs from the Windows Store, it will no longer be playable by March 3, 2017, but the Steam version will live on indefinitely.

The explanations are as tangled as they come but if the latest update is to be believed, the ones who got their copy from Steam will be able to play the game without end of life at least for now.
