Microsoft's Xbox Music to Launch on Oct. 26?

Microsoft is reportedly working on the launch of Xbox Music service on Oct. 26.

The Redmond-based company will launch its new music service along with its confirmed launch of Windows 8, The Verge reported. The site reported that the music service will include paid subscriptions and will have free streaming service that will be supported by ads.

In June, the company announced the spruce up of its Zune Music service to compete with rivals like Apple's iTunes, Pandora and Spotify.

One of the main features of the music service is Microsoft's SkyDrive integration that will let users store music and playlists in the cloud that they access across devices. In order to support Xbox Music, Microsoft will launch an Xbox dashboard update.

The music and video apps for Windows 8 will also be updated to support Xbox Music. Microsoft has been trying to transform its gaming console into a home entertainment hub like its rival Sony.

The Xbox Music service will be available on tablets, PCs, Windows-based phones and Xbox 360. The technology company has plans to introduce it to iOS-based and Android-based devices too, but the app will eventually be made available.

Last week, subscription rate leaks revealed a 30-day free trial, $10 per month and $100 per year subscriptions for Xbox Music, Endgadget reported.

"What we can say is we're excited for Xbox Music as our definitive music service. It'll bring great new ways to enjoy, share and discover new music on all your Windows 8 devices, Xbox 360 console and Windows Phone 8. We'll let you know when we have more information to share," Microsoft said about the Xbox Music service, CNET reported.
