Is EA Bringing Battlefield to Mobile Devices?

Is DICE (EA Digital Illusions CE) contemplating bringing Battlefield to mobile devices?

DICE might be attempting to expand its wings into the mobile gaming industry by launching a mobile edition of the hugely popular game Battlefield.

The report is based on a mysterious source called "Superannuation" and comes via Kotaku.

The company has not released any major in-house mobile gaming titles yet.

In its mobility usability designer, DICE mentions that it is "looking for a Usability Designer for mobile devices. Your work will be focused on making sure the game interface & experience is optimal in terms of accessibility and immersion for mobile and touch screen devices."

"The company's ambition to expand outside the HD platforms and deliver the same quality experience on mobile devices," it adds.

Further, it says, "You will be part of a small team responsible for the development and growth of DICE's presence on mobile platforms."

"Integrate mobile platform with existing online and backend systems. Additionally, you will design, develop and support online features such as authentication, matchmaking, server browser, statistics, etc. for DICE's future products," said the site. It hints at DICE wanting to set up a multiplayer-only Battlefield mobile, while creating a Battlelog ecosystem where players can collect XP that can be fed into consoles.

We are left to see whether the company will provide a mobile gaming experience for other Electronic Arts titles like Need for Speed and Command & Conquer, or if it just wants mobile spin-offs.
