NBA Rumors 2016: Kevin Durant Return To OKC Possible?

Kevin Durant is a Golden State Warrior but his deal is only for two years. In fact, he can opt out next year and re-enter the free agent market if he wants to.

If not next free agency, he can opt in and still become a free agent after the 2017-18 wars. In short, Durant will be busy once again entertaining feelers unless the Warriors are the team he will stay on until he retires.

It may seem premature to look that far but with unpredictable decisions, anything can happen in the NBA. But one thing about Durant is that once upon a time, he mentioned wanting to play his whole career with the Thunder.

A Lebron James-like move?

The scenario of seeing Durant return ‘home’ is not far from happening. LeBron James did it with the Miami Heat, returning to Cleveland (Cavaliers) after delivering a title. James wanted to give the Cavs an NBA title and that was achieved last season.

With the Warriors, Durant is primed to win an NBA title. It could be more than one but the fact is he wants something any NBA player would cherish in his career.

If he does that in two years, he could decide to return to OKC and try to give them a title. With the experience he gains should he win a title with the Warriors becomes added experience that could benefit Sam Presti and company.

Could it possibly be why Presti is composed?

Given that scenario which is possible, the option could have crossed Presti’s mind. Hence, Durant may be out to fulfill something and then use that to give back to the team that valued him the most.

With that possibility years away, it may all depend. Russell Westbrook’s future is uncertain as the shoot-first guard enters a similar scenario in NBA free agency 2017. If he goes, the Thunder will plummet. Could a turn happen afterwards?
