Apple Maps Update: Company Improving 3D Flyover Feature?

Apple has quietly began working on its Apple Maps' 3D Flyover feature after facing heavy criticism from its users about their new maps ap, prompting Apple CEO Tim Cook to apologize late last month.

Cook announced in the letter that the company would be working hard to make the Maps service better.

Apple has been taking big steps to set its Apple Maps to the caliber expected by Apple users, reports AppleInsider. In just a short time, Apple worked to set right the distortion in images.

This improvement for Flyover might not be available to all the users. Some readers from AppleInsider even reported that though they could see the improvement on their iPhone, they were not able to see it on their iPad.

3D Flyovers are one of the crucial features of iOS 6 Maps. It combines overhead images with three-dimensional geometry giving users a photo-realistic, interactive 3D views. Exploring a city is easier as images can be zoomed, panned, tilted and rotated.

Major American landmarks like Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty, Hoover Dam and others were shown distorted on the current maps program.

In the mean time, Google has introduced its Street View feature on mobile Web browsers for iPhone and iPad, after Apple made a strategic decision to remove Google maps app from its iOS.

Google is reportedly working on a standalone Google maps app that might be available for download from Apple App Store.
