AT&T announced on Thursday that Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 820 will join its Windows 8 phone lineup.
It's rumored that new Nokia Lumia lineup's pricing details will be available on Oct. 21, with pre-orders starting a week after. It's rumored that both phones will be available on Nov. 4.
What we can understand from AT&T's announcement is both phones will be released in November. Though no datehas been specified, it debunks earlier rumors that the Nokia Lumia 920 may be out in October.
AT&T claims that it is the leader in Windows phones. Last year, AT&T was the only American carrier that sold NokiaLumia 900.
When the iPhone was previously released in U.S., AT&T sold it as an exclusive. It was only later that the iPhone became available on Verizon Wireless, Sprint and other carriers.
But when it comes to Nokia, the smartphone market is crowded with iPhones and Android phones . It will not help the company to stick to just one carrier. Nokia's Lumia has one not-so-popular feature, the Windows OS, the New York Times reported.
"Exclusive to our customers and featuring unique innovations in imaging technology, wireless charging and a bright, sensitive display - all on the nation's largest 4G network - the Lumia 920 will be one of the hottest phones for theholidays," said Jeff Bradley, senior vice president - Devices and Developer Services, AT&T Mobility.
"We welcome AT&T's decision to offer the Nokia Lumia 920 and Nokia Lumia 820, which, when added to whatwe've witnessed in other markets, underscores the momentum behind our Lumia devices and the broader Windowsecosystem," said Olivier Puech, president of Nokia Americas. "Our continued collaboration with AT&T is an importantcomponent for Nokia's success in the U.S. market."
AT&T was not able to sell much of Lumia 900s but hopes to change that with Lumia 920 and 820.
