EA Gothenburg Working on Unannounced Title of ‘Need for Speed’ Franchise

Evidence that EA Gothenburg has been developing a new unannounced title for the Need for Speed franchise appeared on the company's website. It came to attention through a message on the "Work With Us" page.

"Would you like to be a part of EA?" the post read. "Would you like to work on a game in the Need for Speed franchise? You now have the opportunity to become a part of EA Gothenburg and fulfill those two wishes! We are hiring, and we are hiring a lot!"

This yet-to-be-announced title is being developed on Frostbite 2. Need For Speed: The Run, which was released last year, also worked on Frostbite 2.

The involvement of EA Gothenburg hasn't been announced yet by EA or by developer Criterion.

The studio has current openings under Art Director, Audio Designer, Audio Engineer, Build Engineer, Creative Director, Development Director, Gameplay Designer, Lead Artist, Online Engineer, Producer, QA Analyst, Software Engineer, Technical Director, Tools Software Engineer, Vehicle Artist and VFX Artist.

Surrey, Britain-based Criterion Games created Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit in 2010.

"Our stamp's going to be in everything you see in Need for Speed and Burnout going forward in the future. It's not going to be spread anymore across different companies. Different studios have had a crack at it - it's definitely a Criterion gig now," said Alex Ward, Criterion vice president in June, as reported by IGN.

The mobile version of Most Wanted is being developed by IronMonkey, an Australian gaming studio.

Gaming site VideoGamer revealed in August that in an online CV, an employee of the studio had said he was, "Working on the best racing franchise ever - Need for Speed."
