A video game adapted to a television setting is always interesting. Fox will be bringing Electronic Arts' popular game Battlefield: Bad Company to the small screen.
Fox has already started working on "Bad Company." It will be an hour-long action comedy, Deadline reported.
"Bad Company" is written by John Eisendrath of "Alias" fame who will also be the game's executive producer; along with Happy Madison's Doug Robinson and EA's Patrick Bach and Patrick O'Brien.
Sony TV and Adam Sandler's production house Happy Madison will be part of the show's development. Fox and Sony TV have not yet revealed when they will start filming. The main characters from the game will be featured in the TV program.
The story follows the life of four renegade soldiers (Private Marlowe, Private Sweetwater, Private Haggard, and Sergeant Redford) who, after quitting their military life, enter the private sector. Their commanding officer had earlier used them to carry out dirty work for his shadow unit within the government, but now wants to come clean. In order to cover up his previous activities, he wants his soldiers dead.
Battlefield: Bad Company is a full single-player campaign with characters. The game was praised for its humor, with certain technical aspects getting positive reviews from critics. IGN gave it a score of 8.6/10, though it noted several flaws.
Battlefield: Bad Company was released for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 by EA developer DICE in 2008. The game even came out with a sequel, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2010. The game was set in a near-future war between the Russian Federation and the United States. The Bad Company squad consisted of troublemakers.
EA is yet to reveal the release date for Battlefield 4.
